Dental Tourism in India: Why International Patients Are Choosing Noida
Indians abroad and foreign patients increasingly fly to India for dental work. Noida is becoming a quiet hub. Here's the honest economics and what to know if you're considering it.

India has been a dental tourism destination for two decades, but the centre of gravity has been shifting north. Patients flying in for dental work who would previously go to Mumbai, Bangalore, or Delhi are increasingly landing in Noida — partly because of cost, partly because Delhi NCR has matured into a serious dentistry hub, partly because Noida's clinics generally don't have the wait times of South Delhi's cosmetic practices.
This article is for two audiences: NRIs considering combining a family visit with dental work, and international patients evaluating India for treatment.
The cost reality
These are real comparison numbers — same materials, same protocols — for high-ticket procedures:
| Procedure | UK | USA | Dubai | India (Noida) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single dental implant + crown | £2,800 | $4,500 | AED 8,500 | ₹55,000 (~$650) |
| Full-arch (All-on-4) per arch | £18,000 | $28,000 | AED 55,000 | ₹5,50,000 (~$6,500) |
| Smile design (10 veneers) | £8,500 | $14,000 | AED 28,000 | ₹3,50,000 (~$4,200) |
| Full-mouth rehabilitation | £35,000+ | $55,000+ | AED 100,000+ | ₹12,00,000 (~$14,500) |
| Adult Invisalign | £4,500 | $6,500 | AED 12,000 | ₹2,40,000 (~$2,900) |
These are typical 2026 numbers. The price difference isn't because Indian materials are inferior — we use the same Straumann implants, e.max veneers, Invisalign systems. The difference is real estate cost, doctor compensation structure, and lab overhead.
Why this isn't a "trade-off"
The first question patients ask: "if it's that much cheaper, what's the catch?"
Honest answer: there isn't one for the procedure quality. The catches are practical:
- Travel time and cost — flights from London, New York, or Dubai cost £600-£2000.
- Time off work — implant cases require 2 trips spaced 4-6 months apart, or one extended 2-3 week trip.
- Insurance complications — most Western dental insurance won't cover treatment abroad.
- Follow-up logistics — if something goes wrong 2 years later, you can't easily walk in.
For implant and smile design cases worth £15,000+, the savings comfortably absorb travel costs even with two trips. For a single filling, the math doesn't work.
What treatments actually make sense to fly for
Definitely worth it
- Multiple dental implants (savings ₹3-15 lakhs vs. UK/US prices)
- Full-arch reconstruction (savings ₹15-25 lakhs)
- Smile design with multiple veneers (savings ₹5-12 lakhs)
- Full-mouth rehabilitation (savings ₹20-40 lakhs)
- Adult orthodontic cases (savings ₹2-4 lakhs)
Sometimes worth it
- Single dental implant (₹2-3 lakh saving — covers one trip)
- Wisdom tooth extractions x4 (₹50,000-1,00,000 saving)
- Crown / bridge work (₹50,000-2,00,000 saving)
Not worth flying for
- Single fillings, cleanings, simple extractions — the airfare exceeds the savings
How patients actually structure the trip
Single-trip cases (smile design, simple implants, veneers)
Typical duration: 2-3 weeks in India
- Days 1-2: Initial consultation, CBCT, treatment planning, smile design mockup
- Days 3-5: Tooth preparation, temporary placement
- Days 6-15: Travel within India (most patients combine treatment with tourism — Agra, Rishikesh, Goa)
- Days 16-18: Final restoration placement, polishing, handoff
Two-trip cases (implants requiring osseointegration)
Trip 1: 5-7 days. Surgical placement.
Wait: 4-6 months. Healing happens at home.
Trip 2: 4-5 days. Final crown / prosthesis placement.
This works because the surgical phase and the prosthetic phase are both short. The long part is healing, which doesn't require you to be in India.
Why Noida specifically (vs. South Delhi or Mumbai)
Honest comparison:
- South Delhi (Defence Colony, GK): excellent clinics, but premium pricing — sometimes 30-50% above what we charge for identical work.
- Mumbai (Bandra, Worli): similarly premium, plus Mumbai's logistics are tougher for international patients.
- Bangalore: strong clinics, but a longer flight if your gateway is Delhi.
- Noida: 30-45 min from IGI Airport. Mid-range pricing. Multi-speciality clinics. Less "cosmetic dentistry hype," more clinical depth.
Several of our regular international patients fly into IGI, take a pre-arranged car to Noida, stay at the JW Marriott or Radisson Blu Sector 18, and have their dental work done within a 5-day window. The hotel-clinic-airport triangle is tight and predictable.
What to verify before flying for any clinic in India
Important homework:
- Doctor credentials — verify MDS / FDS / equivalent post-graduate qualifications (not just BDS for complex work).
- Implant brands — confirm globally available systems (Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Megagen, Dentium). Avoid unbranded "Indian implants" for international cases.
- CBCT use — non-negotiable for implant planning. If a clinic doesn't have one in-house, ask why.
- Lab work — for ceramics and prosthetics, in-house digital labs (CEREC, similar) reduce remake risk during your visit.
- Written treatment plans with phased pricing.
- Photographs and X-rays of similar cases the doctor has done.
What we do for international patients
- Pre-arrival video consultation with X-rays sent over WhatsApp
- Written treatment plan and quote before booking
- Airport-clinic-hotel coordination
- Compressed scheduling — your Day 1 includes consultation, scan, planning, and start of treatment
- Daily WhatsApp check-ins post-procedure once you've returned home
- 5-year warranty on implants, lifetime warranty on manufacturing defects
Logistics for NRI patients
If you're an NRI visiting India anyway (parents, festivals, weddings), you can absolutely batch dental work into the trip. Some practical notes:
- Build in at least 7-10 days for any meaningful procedure
- Don't book the trip back-to-back with surgery — leave 48-72 hours of buffer
- Bring your medical history and any X-rays from your home dentist
- Request all your treatment records to take home — for follow-up with your home dentist
Cost of "going wrong"
What if something needs redoing 2 years later, when you're back home? Honest answer: it's an annoyance, not a disaster, for most cases.
- A failed implant can be re-placed by any competent local implantologist using the same brand
- A chipped veneer can be repaired or remade locally
- A loose crown can be re-cemented locally
- Catastrophic prosthetic failures (full-arch breaks) are rare but harder to address remotely — best handled at the original clinic
For this reason, we recommend choosing a clinic in India that uses globally-available materials so your home dentist can service the work.
Frequently asked questions
Is the quality of dentistry in India lower than in the West?
For top-tier clinics: no. The materials are global, the protocols are global, and many Indian implantologists have trained in the US, Germany, or Switzerland. The variation is wider in India — there are excellent clinics and terrible ones — so vetting matters more.
Do you do video consultations before the trip?
Yes — 30-minute pre-arrival video consults are standard for international patients. We review your X-rays and give you a tentative plan and quote before you book a flight.
What about hospital-grade sterilisation?
We use steam autoclaves to international standards, single-use disposables for invasive procedures, and CDC-equivalent infection control. Specifically for international patients, we provide a sterilisation protocol document.
Is there a payment plan for international patients?
Yes — staged payment matched to treatment phases, accepted in INR, USD, EUR, or GBP via bank transfer.
What about COVID-style entry restrictions?
As of 2026, India's medical visa process for treatment-purpose visits is straightforward. We provide invitation letters for visa applications.
If you're considering treatment in Noida, the easiest first step is a video consultation. Get in touch — we'll review your X-rays and give you an honest read on whether the trip makes financial sense for your specific case.
Our doctors do free 15-minute consultations. Come in with a question, leave with a plan.
